The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, founded in 1972, stands as one of the pioneering OMFS departments in Israel. Over the years, it has evolved into a renowned institution, dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of conditions affecting the oral cavity, as well as the facial and head and neck regions.
Today, it proudly offers unique services to the northeast of Israel, catering to a diverse population of approximately 900,000 residents. This department is not only a cornerstone of medical excellence but also a beacon of hope for those in need of complex maxillofacial care.
The department has seen significant advancements, positioning it as a top facility in Israel and a national patient care center. It anchors a division of oral and dental health with 18 top specialists, 9 residents, and 8 staff physicians. The division provided 20,000 patient-physician meetings in 2021, with 10 active OR per week in all the different services and disciplines.
Head Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral and Dental Care Division
A distinguished Professor at Bar-Ilan University’s Faculty of Medicine, he leads the Head and Neck Oncology Research laboratory while chairing the Oral and Dental Health division.
With specialized training from France and international education across Europe and the USA, he has authored over 150 publications with 3,000 citations.
His expertise in Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive surgery is supported by numerous governmental grants and his active involvement in Ministry of Health committees.
Pediatric Dentist
Specializes in pediatric dental care, offering comprehensive treatments for children, including those with special needs, using tailored behavioral techniques or general anesthesia when required.
She is also developing an innovative mouth-opening device to help patients with disabilities maintain daily oral hygiene and undergo regular dental checkups more easily.
In addition, she supports breastfeeding mothers through the diagnosis and treatment of tongue-tie and provides preoperative care and follow-up for newborns with cleft palate and other congenital orofacial conditions.
Oral Medicine Specialist
With an MBA in Health Systems Management from Tel Aviv University’s Coller School of Management and as a graduate of the Inbar Program, she has conducted collaborative research with the Ministry of Health, IBM, and the KI Research Institute.
Her latest article was published in Cancers, and she has received two grants from the Ministry of Innovation’s Science Accelerators. She developed a product and founded the startup Oralyze, which uses smartphone imaging to detect oral cancer.
Additionally, she participates in the US-Israel HealthTech Hub, a program by AmCham and the U.S. Department of Health, promoting Israeli startups in the U.S. market.
